A world-renowned Bulgarian vocalist. A soloist of the acclaimed Pirin Ensemble, she has earned status as a National Treasure and the Voice of Bulgaria. She brings extraordinary expression to Balkan rhythms and harmonies.
Bio / Background
Tatiana Sarbinska is a world-renowned Balkan vocalist and teacher. Born in the village of Rila in Bulgaria, she rose quickly through the ranks of the finest Bulgarian state choruses to become one of the preeminent solosts of her generation. For many years, she was the featured soloist of the internationally acclaimed Pirin Ensemble. With Pirin, she toured extensively and made numerous recordings, and films for TV. Her extensive repertoire includes music from all of Bulgaria's folklore regions. Tatiana has been awarded "National Treasure" status and renown as "The Voice of Bulgaria" by the Bulgarian government, for her musical legacy and for preserving the musical heritage of her home country. In 2004 Tatiana was the recipient of the Wammy (Washington Area Music Award) for World Music Vocalist, and in 2006 she received the Ivan Vasov Medal from the government of Bulgaria.
