Danceable synthpop, reminiscent of the 80's, complete with hooks and a dark edge.
Bio / Background
Considering the path that Synthetic Division has traveled, it’s a wonder that they are even around to make music.
Diagnosed with a life-threatening illness as a child, Shawn Decker had the opportunity to meet anyone in the world through the Make-A-Wish Foundation: he chose Depeche Mode. "Jim Morrison got his songwriting powers as a child, when his parents drove past a car accident and the spirits of dead Native Americans lept into his soul," Decker says. "I got mine by shaking the hand of Martin Gore."
Around the same time that Shawn was staring down an unlikely future, Kyle Wiggins, Shawn’s bandmate with the futuristic sunglasses, was dealing with his own health concerns. Though they wouldn't meet until years later, both turned to electronic music for solace.
“When I put on the headphones to listen to my favorite bands,” says Decker, “everything else felt secondary, and manageable as a consequence.”
Synthetic Division are now the ones making the music.
