Terrific alt-jazz-rock focused on great songwriting and strong performances.
Bio / Background
CD#2 from singer/songwriter/pianist Bill Swann is a continuation of the quirky but refined style that made his first CD "Awake But Somehow Dreaming" a critical success. The recording is a true solo effort with Swann performing all instruments and doing all of the production, mixing, programming, etc. The notable exceptions are two great solos, one by trumpeter Vance Thompson on "Falling Down" and the other by guitarist Harry Smith on "Zoloft."
The CD is only slightly more serious than "Awake..." with many of the songs drawing their inspiration from fictional or larger-than-life characters. In fact, three of the cuts are fairly obvious references to films. We'll let you figure out which.
A great CD showcasing the songwriting talents of an offbeat, multi-faceted, and immensely talented musician.
