Heavy blues-rock that oozes with groove. If you like The Black Crowes, Lenny Kravitz, early Aerosmith & Led Zep you'll love this CD.
Bio / Background
"Snarl, Meat, Vibe...it's all The Swag Hooks!!!"
Fender Musical Instruments (June '06)
"Tony Bellantoni, like Jack White of the White Stripes/Raconteurs, excels in his 'guitarist as producer' role. Nice to know someone can still 'do it' like Jimmy Page used to. Looking for goose bumps? play 'dirty greasy bluesy mess' loud!"
Magnet Music (Jan. '06)
"The Swag Hooks, a most blues worthy quintet from the New York/Connecticuit area mix influences such as The Black Crowes, Led Zeppelin, Lenny Kravitz, Grand Funk and down and dirty Delta blues to come up with a satisfying release that's sure to satisfy not only fans of blues rock but of organic 70's styled hard rock as well. This band certainly knows how to 'groove' convincingly!!"
Rocknrolluniverse.com (Oct'05)
"8 out of 10 stars...
↓ more ↓this heavyweight blues-rock is far from being a mess!"
Classic Rock Magazine (May '05)
"a quasi retro-rock vibe brought into the here & now...
'dirty greasy bluesy mess' is a world class release,
The Swag Hooks are the real deal!"
Matt Zako MD WEFX-FM
"Bellantoni's songwriting and production craft are what make this worth the price of admission."
Weekly Arts & Entertainment (June '05)
The Swag Hooks sophomore outing brings the spirit
of early 70's rock clearly into the present. "Groove" is the operative word with this blues/rock influenced
group based in the NY/Connecticut area. With an emphasis on the riff, the songs are both infectious and moving. Give and take guitars tug on the beat, while soulful vocals tell it like it is. From the greasy funk of "Do You Think" to the swampy grit of "Tipitina" , this album is a winner...
A must have for any die hard rock enthusiast!
A LOOK BACK...
Featuring former member of national act 'Steel Heart',
The Swag Hooks started out in the late 90's with a mission to get back to their roots. Disciples of classic blues, rock and soul, The Swags were influenced by artists like Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, The Rolling Stones, Elmore James, Sly Stone, James Brown & Stevie Wonder. They harnessed their energies, entered the studio and recorded this new album...the result is nothing less than spectacular...
The Swag Hooks have played extensively along side acts such as The J.Geils Band, Black 47, Government Mule and
The Allman Brother's Otiel Burbridge.
