Bio / Background
Strokeland Superband is the creation of Tower of Power's Doc Kupka. "The Funky Doctor," as he's often called, is a prolific songwriter. Doc and Strokeland co-producer, Jeff Tamelier, assembled an all-star entourage for this soulful undertaking.
Doc was looking for a creative way to release some of his many songs and for the opportunity to work with some of his favorite performers. The performers range from past Tower of Power members,Lenny Pickett (now Saturday Night Live band leader) and Mic Gillette to vocalists such as Huey Lewis and Bill Champlin.Band members: Vocalists include: Huey Lewis (Huey Lewis and the News),Bill Champlin (Sons of Champlin), Mickey Thomas (Starship), Frank Biner, Glenn Walters, John Lee Sanders, Emilio Castillo (Tower ofPower) and Melisa Kary (Starship).
