Bio / Background

The Still Point Sound

The sounds come from Still Point, but the roots branch out to tap rock and country, pop and bluegrass, jazz and folk genres. Members of the band span a wide array of musical backgrounds. One holds a post graduate music degree, while another is self taught. One is a former rock musician, and another played in the military band during his service in the U.S. armed forces. This unlikely combination of musicians and singers stews and cooks until it spins out eclectic concoctions, with each song taking on a life of its own. The sounds range from a rocking, bluesy “Love We Need” to the haunting “Gloria” (both from the CD “Witnesses”) to the bluegrass/gospel feel of “Church” (from the CD “Praise Him”). The performances have a very real quality that reaches out to the listener.

The Still Point Story

The band came together as a group of volunteers to serve as the musical component in a weekly contemporary worship service.
