Reggae, Latin, South American grooves with a Christian twist.
Bio / Background
Steve began his singing career in his Choir in secondary school in Ghana in his early teens, when he joined a Gospel Band called the Ambassadors in the sixth form where he played rhythm guitar.
He then assisted in forming a Gospel Band called the Frontiers where he started composing songs and teaching singing and songwriting.
Steve then went on to university and joined a group called Explo where he served as music director for over a year, where he had his first recording experience with this group when one of his compositions was featured on an album.
After university he wrote his first album of six songs, where he performed most of his songs in musical concerts, usually backed by a band of up to 8, comprising of drummer, bassist, lead guitar, brass section, keyboards and 3 backing singers.
In 1999, Steve set up his own recording studio in Ghana, “Crystal Bay studio” where in 2004 he produced “NUTIFAFA”, he then re-located to the UK in the spring of 2005.
↓ more ↓With “NUTIFAFA”, Steve has produced such gems as the title track with the obvious reggae
grooves associated with that style, plus the exciting Latin American sounds of “AMENUVEVE” that cannot fail to induce foot tapping to the listener.
Steve currently leads the Church choir at the Assemblies of God Church in Bangor, North Wales, where they perform in a contemporary Gospel music style and where he takes inspiration for writing his songs from his Christian faith, most of his songs are taken from themes based on the bible and his own life experiences.
Before coming to the UK a lot of his time was spent managing his recording studio and producing African Music. His songs have the feel of hard percussion grooves and swinging rhythms from his Native continent but with a definite western feel.
Steve’s musical influences are wide ranging, from Gospel Singers like Mary Mackee, Andrae Crouch and The Winans, through to such luminaries as Toni Braxton and Lionel Richie.
His belief is that Christian music should be able to reach out to all and to achieve that it should be made appealing and accessible to all.
