Bio / Background
STEVEN JONES
(Straight From the Heart)
Steven, native of Nashville TN appeals to audiences with a contemporary gospel flavor. As a singer and lyricist new to the gospel scene, he charms audiences with a range of smooth vocals, complimented by an old school style. The youngest of nine, Steven has been singing and playing the piano since the age of five; however, he did not discover his lyrical talents until he met his long-term musical partner JLove. Now as both a singer and songwriter, Steven writes lyrics with themes everyone can relate to and with melodies everyone can move to, Since his lyrics are usually inspired by actual events he has experienced.
He often thinks of the numerous artist --- Commissioned, Take 6, Daryl Coley, Stevie Wonder --- that have served as an inspiration and role model for him, Steven describes these performers as "real artists" capable of producing the same output in concert as they produce on the radio.
↓ more ↓Therefore, he strives to achieve this level of "real artistry", while maintaining his own unique style. Steven describes his performance style as coming to the audience straight from the heart with an energetic, spirited performance, using techniques of interactive performance.
Realizing that longevity is essential for success in today's Gospel music industry, he prepares for the future by writing new lyrics and polishing his talents and techniques daily. Steven hopes to increase his success as a gospel artist, by ministering his audience through the glory of God.
