Bio / Background
ABOUT THE CD, "OUTTA SCHOOL!"
OUTTA SCHOOL! is the second release by award-winning children’s musician, Steve Blunt. The CD’s mostly humorous tunes loosely follow the chronological pattern of the school calendar, with “Back to School” near the beginning and “Summer Vacation” close to the end—hence the title—but the majority of songs are simply lots of fun, any time of year.
Many musical styles are represented, from the Dixieland/swing-influenced “Monkey, Monkey!” (about the adventures of a little girl and the monkey she liberates from its cage at the zoo) to the old-school ska beat of “Too Many People in a Little House” (composed when Steve was still in school…all those years ago). A number of original tunes pay tribute to classic sounds of the 50’s and 60’s; one such track is “Reading Road Trip, USA,” commissioned as the official theme song for the New Hampshire State Library’s 2007 Summer Reading Program.
