All vocals, guitar and bass are performed by Steve. He was born in Texas, and we can hear traces of Steve’s roots in his voice and lyrics. Tom plays wind synth with the sounds of fiddle, mandolin and accordion meandering through the album, bringing us closer to the spirit of the land.
“Moon of Hard Times” is the Native American name for the month of January. It is a time when faced with great challenges that we look within ourselves for the medicine of survival.
Step To Band sounds like those folky guys from the next block who stopped to play in your garage last summer. They turned the amps up. Three women started dancing, twirling in circles. Bright golden sun. Somebody was burning cedar. A crow flew by, it winked three times. It was Joe's crow. He said, "Everything will be made new again".
STEPhen grew up on Kadel. TOm grew up on Kadel. STEPhen lived in a pink house. TOm lived in a pink house. The houses weren't big but they were pink.
↓ more ↓Coincidence? You know better. It was a new development built in a corn field. Soon the lawns and trees started growing. The music began to resonate from one of the pink houses.
What do two guys who grew up on the same street, each in a pink house have to say about life and love? Moon of Hard Times is the answer. Playing these songs in the rhythm of life, STEP TO Band delivers colorful and simple songs about love, with love. These lifelong friends tap into their understanding of each other, while you tap your feet.
Sit back and listen, or better yet, STEP TO the music.
