Cellist Winters plays haunting renditions of Miles Davis, Bela Bartok, Ornette Coleman, Mahalia Jackson and several new compositions arranged for cello solo and cello multi-track ensemble.
Bio / Background
Cellist Stephanie Winters is a valued and innovative accompanist to an ever-growing list of America's most celebrated artists. Her recording and performing credits with more than 100 artists include Corrine Bailey Rae, Paula Cole, The O'Jays, Dar Williams, and Anne Murray. Currently she tours accompanying Woodstock legend Richie Havens whose performances have taken her across North America, Europe, and Australia.
Winters is also a recording artist in her own right. Her debut of multi-tracked cello music, "Through The Storm", covers Miles Davis, Bela Bartok, Ornette Coleman, and original compositions. She is embarking on a new recording project, which will explore playing duos with guitarists from the jazz, rock, folk and worlds. The unfolding of this project will be documented on her website through the company Artistshare.
Winters began her cello studies in the fourth grade in the Levittown, Long Island public school music program.
