"Days Spent Waiting" finds Standbye eschewing traditional song structure for more compostionally based music
Bio / Background
In the Summer of 1994, Walter set out with a friend, Todd, to spend his high school graduation money on his first guitar. After many years, a college education and umpteen hours of practice, Walter found himself in a band with that very person who happened not to be busy that day. Standbye formed in 1997 after Matt and Todd got together with longtime friend Sally. The threesome went through a series of bass players before meeting and befriending Judd. The band quickly garnered a local reputation as a melodic yet hard-driving live band. In 1998, Standbye appeared on a Cuddlefish Records compilation. Recorded with Jason Orris (Polara, The Hot), "Days Spent Waiting" finds Standbye eschewing traditional song structure for more compostionally based music.
