Bio / Background
A while back, after seeing Season 2 of Nashville Star, I reviewed a demo CD from Sean Patrick McGraw. That was a good CD that gave me some insight into the real singer and songwriter. That was then (so they say) and this is now... Since I reviewed that earlier CD, Sean Patrick McGraw has decided to send another offering my way, and I must say I am impressed. The last CD in itself was good, but I thought there was room to really let go on the vocals, and at times he seemed subdued and didn't give 'er all he had, I must say, how things have changed.
Sean Patrick McGraw comes across full force this time around, keeping the vocals a bit laid back where the tracks deserve it, but when the songs need some energy, Sean Patrick hits 'em with both barrels.
↓ more ↓This is by far superior to the last CD which on it's own was good, but what did I have to compare it to> Well this time I've got it, and as a matter of fact I really get it, the tracks are equally bright and intelligent as they are powerful and heartbreaking, songs about the real life and what it's like to grow up, and really live life rather than letting it pass you by, along with all the troubles, heartaches, loss and love that goes with it.
Tales From The Wild Mid West has some true winners, and some that are a little less, but there isn't a BAD song in the mix. There's no filler or just songs to take up space so you can fill an entire album, every track here has substance, and some could be heard on any country radio station around, if they would dare to take a chance on a new and not yet known star on the rise. The one thought that came to me was this, pack your bags (OK, so you're already in Nashville), this may be just be what you needed to really turn some heads, and get a "real" deal that has been too long waiting in the wings.
Sean Patrick McGraw has moved forward farther than I thought there was even room, but if he doesn't get noticed for his songwriting, which is incredible, and has had "brushes" with hit status, the execs should really be listening to the vocals more now, you could play any tack here between Rascall Flatts and Vince Gill on the radio, and it would not feel a bit out of place, Sean Patrick McGraw is ready for the big time folks, get to his website and order a copy while you can
