Pop/Rock/Reggae
Bio / Background
Spit Hot Fire is an original band from New York City. Although it is difficult to typify, Spit Hot Fire’s music could most aptly be described as alternative rock/reggae. Formed in the early summer of 2005, and comprised of 4 members who have convened here from 4 different U.S. states, the band ambitiously plans to become one of the most profound, successful, and respected rock acts in the world. Bryce Alvord, Benjamin Altman, Justin Kimmel, and Travis Satten are Spit Hot Fire.
Spit Hot Fire will appeal to anyone who enjoys quality modern music that is powerful, gritty, humorous, and intelligent. Besides the alternative rock and reggae influences that are most obviously central in the music, Spit Hot Fire also incorporates elements of Hip-Hop, Funk, Ska, Metal and Blues into their sound.
↓ more ↓This band will appeal to so many people because it combines the power of Nirvana, the grooves of Bob Marley, the wit of Mos Def, the melodies of The Beatles, and the ability to seamlessly integrate styles of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. These aforementioned groups and artists could all be listed as major influences of Spit Hot Fire, although they are in no way limited to them.
Bryce Alvord is the lead singer and rhythm guitar player for Spit Hot Fire, and is also the predominant songwriter. Benjamin Altman is the lead guitar player, sings backup, and also lays down some synthesizer on record and live when needed. Justin Kimmel plays bass and also sings backup. Travis Satten plays the drums and also other percussion instruments. Their talents and abilities are all undeniable and imperative to the overall sound of the band. The evidence is in the music. Just listen.
With their June 2006 release of their first record The Spit Hot Fire EP, Spit Hot Fire is poised to begin their ascension to the plateau of success they wish to and believe they can achieve. Their growing following in New York and their music, both on record and live, truly speak volumes for themselves. If this is the first you are hearing of Spit Hot Fire, it will no doubt not be the last.
