Bio / Background
Some say Leland is a band currently based in Austin, TX. They are in the process of recording a second album with a completely new lineup including lead and harmony vocals, banjo, classical guitar, cello, accordian, piano, clarinet, upright bass, and percussion. "Kings, bishops, and pawns" was their debut album released in the summer of 2005, when the band was a trio of musicians from Nacogdoches, TX. The lineup at the time was Dan Grissom on guitar and lead vocals, Adam Rader on dobro, guitar and backing vocals, and Ryan Conlin on mandolin and backing vocals. This album can possibly be categorized as neo-folk, or nu-americana, or indie/folk. They write, record, and produce every aspect of their music.
↓ more ↓This, their debut album, was recorded with a very simple setup in order to create a very relaxed album that captures the natural energy and improvisation of the band's live shows.
