Bio / Background
A rock-electronic-dub-blues, extravaganza, the newest release from Sounds of Influence represents a huge inspiration for aspiring musicians. Jonathan Wright is the sole member of SOI. Songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer, he has created a slick, mature and well-rounded album. Listeners may be surprised to hear he created it by himself, all from home. “Well, with help from my friends” clarifies Jonny. This album features the work of several guest musicians including the bluesy and beautiful guitar work of Shawn Cupolo of Hotfoot, vocal stylings of locally known Brandon Weaver of Seven-Eight, as well as a couple of debut musicians including Erin Wright and Michael Brannon. Unlike many other forms of art, the music business seems increasingly corporate and inaccessible to most musicians. Jonny aims to take the power back, allowing his art form to come to fruition without becoming mired in the politics of image, rock-stardom, record deals etc.
