Multi-dimensional quirky pop that reaches into the future, circles back to kick it with the Beatles and then makes a fresh, snappy landing into your ears.
Editorial review
Despite a pretty weak name, Snacks actually puts together a unique take on music hall, Bonzo Dog Band weirdness, and '70s radio pop. On The Cinnamon Show, Kevin Wiggins (aka Mysterious K) and John "Cutty Mac" Richardson craft a classic take on pop/rock, ranging from white boy R&B ("The Boys Don't Care") to early Billy Joel piano rock ("Miracle Child") to trippy, retro synth rock ("Overtime"). It hardly seems contemporary -- Snacks would fit in much better in an arena in the late '70s opening for, say, Fleetwood Mac -- but their love of the Beatles and oddball independence make Snacks a solid, if quirky, band in the spirit of ELO. ~ Charles Spano, All Music Guide
Bio / Background
Remember hearing your favorite song when you were a kid? If you were anything like Kevin Wiggins and John Richardson, the creative minds that are Snacks, you didn't just LIKE it, it charmed and enchanted, and left an imprint on you. Snacks has set out to make this type of music - music for the ages.
As the radio waves of suburban America ebbed and flowed through these two dreamers, leaving gems and junk alike on the shores of their minds, they listened intently. They sorted through the flotsam, dissecting every song, cataloging every note and every sound, storing the information for a time in the future when they would have their own band and make their own music for all the world to hear. That time is now. That band is Snacks.
This is the album you've been dying to hear, with unforgettable melodies and musical moods that transport you to worlds near and far. "The Cinnamon Show" is chock full of:
...quirky rock gems with a slight British-flavour,
...
↓ more ↓well-crafted AM Gold-style ballads,
...bizarre and accessible pop gems you will never forget.
Snacks plans on having a career filled with unforgettable singles and adventurous albums that fulfill, intrigue, delight, and inspire. Want to know where Snacks can take you? Get "The Cinnamon Show" today and find out...
