Bernd Lichters was interviewed regarding the history of DeBarge, Switch & SMASH.
GROUP HISTORY:
SMASH was first released in Europe by Polydor Germany in 1977 under the title Hot Ice, which was the follow up to White Heat (RCA 1974), a name Barry White controlled, but released the band and formed the Motown group Switch. In 1979 the album was released by Source/MCA under the group name SMASH, where Randy, Mark and El DeBarge were included in the group backing up this album. Consequently Motown signed DeBarge.
This album is for Funk and Soul lovers.
↓ more ↓You can listen to some real earthy Funk composed and played by Bobby DeBarge on the piano, Tommy DeBarge on the bass, Greg Williams on the piano and trumpet, Arnett Hayes on the organ, Jody Sims drums, Phillip Ingram percussion, plus former members T.C. Brown, Stanley Brown, Darnell Wyrick, Stanley Hood.
Recorded at Owl Recording Studios in Columbus, Ohio.
Mixed at the classic Paramount Recording Studio in Hollywood, California by Legendary Engineers Roger Dollarhide(RIP) & Peter Haden
