Point of Departure is a retrospective of 10 or so years of experimentation and exploration. The domains, or styles, being explored have sometimes been called "minimalism," "ambient," "pulse" and "stochastic." I like to call it "Trans-Classical," or "Trance-Classical."
CLASSICAL
The classical (I use the term loosely here) methodology takes place in the detail of my music. It's almost fractal in the way that I sustain the same level of detail no matter how deeply you listen. Just as in a Bach fugue, where every line is an exquisitely worked out piece of music in its own right, every sound in my music is crafted with intention.
I also have the benefit of electronics. I can determine many aspects of each sound with the same precision that I can place my notes. The unfolding of a drone has a life of its own, for example.
