Angst meets Kitsch in this sonic landscape where glam rock, synth pop, and folk are laced with electronica.
Bio / Background
"I'm not rude, I'm justified..." So goes a lyric from "High and Tight," a song off the forthcoming Shitting Glitter album Free Alongside Ship, and although the band's name may seem somewhat rude, the intention is as much fun and optimistic as it is political.
"Shitting Glitter" is taking the crap that life gives you and making it pretty. Whether dealing with small minds, hate crimes or just the weight of the world, it's important to stand up for who you are and believe in your beautiful, glittery self. Shitting Glitter is a call to arms for all those who feel different - and love it. It's a punch in the face to conservatives who want to censor everything they deem inappropriate. It's a label we wear with honor, much like the other labels that have been thrown at us in hate and disgust, only to be transformed into power and pride.
Shitting Glitter started out four years ago as an all-gay band, playing in all-gay bars, mainly singing all-gay songs.
↓ more ↓Time and experience have added many more realms and textures to the fabric. The sound, initially described as raw "bayou punk" has transcended into a beat-heavy, electronic-laced un-pop. It's angst meets kitsch as the trio of musicians are joined onstage by their wild drag go-go dancers.
Having released their full length debut album Post No Bills as well as the dance EP Sexy Clown Circus in 2003, the band is proud to unleash Free Alongside Ship, which has already spawned the singles "The Incomparable White Six" and "Ladyslipper."

An indie-pop masterpiecebobbin_for_music wrote on July 01, 2007
This is a classic indie-pop album that runs that gamut with many flavors and layers of sounds and emotions. Starting off with a dark, spooky sound, "Mondo di Corpo" opens the album on an eerie note. This song seems to be about zombies and monsters, somehow tied in with religious or educational authority figures. Later, we have some sexy party music ("Slut Buffet") some flower-power ("Ladyslipper") and even a ballad-type, acoustic number called "The Amnesty Party" which seems to be tinged with sadness and regret, with a little taste of angst as the song outros with a "rap". I was really surprised by this album when a friend suggested it, as I had never heard of the band before, but the CD is solid and you can tell this is music by a band without a lot of label interference or mainstream aspirations. This album is personal, yet appealing to many. I'm very anxious to hear more material by this band!
