Bio / Background

Shanks the Dreamers is the concept band of multi award winning filmmaker/artist Amir Motlagh(a.k.a Shanks) as he tries to find a way to bridge the gap between all the hopeless beauty of things better left untouched. The first release, "A Day Late: Instrumentals for Illegal Aliens" record spanned time, specifically from summer 2004 to summer 2006 sprinkled with another 5 months of mixing and mastering, and obsessive compulsive drives and other life stuff. It was recorded as a conceptual solo project first, one in which was going to be under the moniker of Shanks alone, but a band formed during the process and so, to create confusion or to refrain from it, we incorporated the name of the band into the album, because like all things of this nature, the starting point is just as important as the end point. Although as a whole, the band sounds different then these more personal recordings, somewhere deep inside the compositions, lies the inherent qualities of Shanks and the Dreamers now.
