Bio / Background
Rasta Italist" the long-awaited new CD from reggae artist SEEFARI is a deep roots session with singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist SEEFARI creating a full-band sound reminiscent of 70s and 80s era Jamaican reggae. The title track features an updated rockers drum and bass riddim with hard driving hand drums, bubblin keys and chunky guitar. The minor-key song is carried by SEEFARI's modal vocals with I Jah Melody's "Puma-like" high harmonies dancing lightly on top. "Wizzy Wisemind" (inspired by the biblical proverbs of Solomon) is a bright melodic one-drop with I Jah Melody providing the voice of "Wizzy". Sweet! The Marley and Tosh influenced "Mary Jane" is a unique story song personifying everyone's favorite "flower" over a bouncy rockers riddim. "1 love not 2 hate" is a powerful message tune set to an achingly slow one drop with snaking hi-hat and funky clav. "No more war" is a classic protest song featuring soulful "Toots-style" vocals and bluesy guitar and harmonica.
