Bio / Background
After listening to Sean Laskey's earthy, soulful blend of folk and blues-tinged acoustic pop, you might be surprised to learn about his earliest influences. Like so many kids, Sean was first inspired to pick up the guitar - an electric guitar at that point - by the The Beatles and the riff-rock of the early 70s - the latter embodied by the searing sounds of Aerosmith. While The Beatles' dedication to song crafting and harmony stuck with Sean, the love affair with riff-rock soon gave way to a desire to tell stories with his songs.
Today, Laskey's music reflects his earliest influences, combined with honest roots-rock in the vein of Tom Petty and Steve Earle, and lyrical phrasing reminiscent of Tom Waits. His diverse musical palette and knack for creating a hook serve to deliver each song's message - a message that resonates with a wide array of listeners. Laskey approaches every song as an idea waiting to be developed.
