Bio / Background
Scott Tarulli is a frequent call in Boston to play guitar in singer/songwriter projects. Tarulli's seasoned textural playing, cleaver hooks and groove attract a range of songwriters to invite Tarulli in the studio, or on the road. In the months of April and May alone, Tarulli has played 3 singer/songwriter CD release parties and was hired by Synergy Sound to be guitarist and musical director for an industry showcase.
Within the past few years, Tarulli has done various jingles, including 5 for Dunkin Donuts. He played a cut on a project for E-3 (Redman, Method Man, Canadian R&B artist in the top 10) Alastiar Mooks "A Life I Never Had,"(with Duke Levine (Mary Chapin Carpenter), Kevin Barry (Paula Cole)) Lois Greco's "Surrender" and cuts on R&B singer Drew Ambroses' upcoming release. He's done countless recording sessions for a wide range of pop, rock and jazz groups (See "Sessions" demo). He performed with Bob Marly's "Wailers", Peter Wolf and "Meatloaf.
↓ more ↓" He also shared the stage with "The Fixx." Tarulli still plays frequently in clubs in freelance situations. And, in 2000, Scott was brought on board as an in demand instructor at Berklee College of Music, where he teaches private lessons and professional guitar labs.
Scott also has 2 CDs out under his own name on the Oasis label. "Transitions," and "September in Boston: Live" Which showcase his wide range of musical influences. The albums also demonstrate his strong songwriting.
Being of good ole'Boston stock myself, I was drawn to Tarulli's original piece, ''Boston Nights.'' Scott's affinity for the fusion side of jazz, is evident in the Abercrombie-esque rendition of this, his lovely & not easily forgotten jazz ballad. Tarulli is an engrossing jazz guitarist, creating a kind of traditional classicism in his playing style.probably born of an innate romanticism. Suffice it to say that this body of work contained therein is Scott's vehicle for the creation of strong, expressive, & melodic musical thought.

What people are saying about Scott:
Guitarist Scott Tarulli stretches out in the jazz fusion idiom on his new seven song offering "Transitions." His execution is flawless as he delivers soulful fretboard excursions while exhibiting great tone and articulation throughout these superb original compositions. Navigating through the arrangements along with Tarulli are Dennis Hughes, who's bounding keyboard work adds dimension and style to Tarulli's writing. Punch in the fine drumming of Michael Iannantuoni and the bass work of Ervin Dhimo and Jesse Bastos and you've got the makings of a very solid foundation indeed. Lorne Entress adds percussion and production to two tracks while Bob St. John completes the project with his mastering savvy. Tarulli is a gifted player that we'll surely be glad to hear more from.

"Scott's Rockin' and Ballad approaches suck you in rather than stun you. Themes, textures, mood and melody all get equal billing, making his a musical, not just a guitar statement."
- John Stix Editor for Guitar For the Practicing Musician
