Bio / Background
Sandro Gomes was born in São Miguel in the Azores and immigrated to East Somerville, MA in 1984. During the 80's, Sandro spent most of his time on the streets, rapping in the shadows of such mainstream artists as Run DMC and LL Cool J. In the early 1990's he began to experiment with Portuguese rap, but it wasn't until he met Hendrik David Gideonse XIX, founder of Indecent Music, that he fully exploited his talent in the studio. Sandro brings a smooth sexy voice to catchy, danceable music. He weaves his lyrics with Hendrik's melodic hooks to carry forth his message.
Before Sandro's debut album, "Portugal," was manufactured and released in the US, it was a major hit in the Azores. The CD pirates did a brilliant job of launching Gomes career. The renowned documentary film producers, Joãquim Pinto and Nuno Leonel soon contacted Indecent Music.
