Bio / Background
This music was born on the North Atlantic coast, steeped in the music of the Southern flatlands, and honed in the Alpine pastures.
It is not unlike a fine tea purveyor in a pastoral town. Each song is a different selection that has been brewed to the apex of its flavor. One is a floral Darjeeling from a single estate. The next has the malty strength of Assam.
This CD was made out of necessity and limitation. Made with what pieces the band had lying around. There is urgency here. And serious catharsis.
Before brewing this strong Breakfast Blend, two members of Salt & Samovar—David M and Mama Kelli Scarr—played together in Moonraker. There they worked out an eternal musical relationship that has sprouted into this new form. The other two members—Fiore Tedesco and Dane Risch—are cousins. What could be tighter?
Salt & samovar live in Brooklyn but wish they lived on a farm.
