Sounds like a 70's jukebox filled with country and rock. All originals...
Bio / Background
From Amarillo, Texas, Ryan Culwell brings the sound of a 1970's jukebox to a new generation. With mature songs and a fresh voice, Ryan's music is a party. His album and his live show are built on lyrics you can relate to, production that is extremely accessible, and melodies you can't get out of your head. Ryan Culwell grew up in a small town on the plains of the Texas panhandle. Growing up in a hardworking blue-collar household, Ryan was exposed to Rock n Roll by his father at young age. This music became a pillar in the culture of Ryan's life. You could always hear Tom Petty, Jimi Hendrix, CCR, Mellencamp and the likes thumping against the walls of Ryan's bedroom. Ryan then fell in love with the blues of John Lee Hooker. Studying different blues artists taught Ryan to craft a melody that was expressive, memorable, and simple. At some point folk music grabbed Ryan.
↓ more ↓From Bob Dylan to John Prine to Cat Stevens and even James Taylor, Ryan learned the importance of story-telling and writing a complete song. He naturally brought all he had learned back into the landscape of Rock n Roll. Ryan's songs turned into anthems. By this time Ryan's voice had developed the capabilities of blues singers, the intimacy of a singer/songwriter, and the mass appeal of rock. Due to the sheer geography of Ryan's childhood he also developed a bit of a country twang, which he showcases on his debut album, "Heroes on the Radio." The album is making major headway and forging a path for Ryan in the music industry and in the hearts of listeners. Based out of Amarillo, Texas, Ryan is developing a devout fanbase throughout the panhandle of Texas that is beginning to broaden throughout the rest of the state and the midwest.

single "Gimme Your Hand"
"Heroes on the Radio", Ryan's debut album. proudly reflects the music that inspired Ryan as a musician. While remaining original, Ryan is able to provide listeners with a songs that seem familiar even on the first listen. With ten songs, "Heroes on the Radio" is able to range from Country, to Folk, to Rock n Roll. The single, "Gimme Your Hand" starts the album off with a strong rhythm and a hook that you wont be able to get out of your head. That is actually the strong point of the album. Every song is memorable and the simple construction of melodies and lyrics makes each song remain with the listener long after the album plays. Playing off the influences of his heroes, Ryan made an album that will remind older listeners of all their favorites (Mellencamp, Dylan, Petty, CCR, and many others) and will inspire a new generation of music fanatics.
