BIOGRAPHY
Russell Wolff - a dynamic performer with an unbelievable story.
Wolff is no stranger to the stage. He has been performing since the age of 6. Starting with musical theater, Wolff cut his teeth on NY stages. In college he was forced to choose between a degree in acting or a life in music. The rest is history. Wolff has spent the better part of the last 10 years recording music and touring througout the US and Canada. His friendship with Moxy Fruvous early on brought great fans and a wonderful following, but Wolff has managed to welcome all ages and types of people to his music.
↓ more ↓Life changed dramatically for Wolff when he narrowly escaped a near fatal illness in 2002. A sudden and massive infection took over his throat. It rapidly spread into his chest, head, and neck closing his throat. The surgeons were not sure if he would live let alone sing again. But after three and a half weeks, he was able to leave the hospital. The long road to recovery brought some dark times, but ultimately, the best writing he has done to date. He recently told the Harvard Gazette he has lost patience with songs that don't get to the point. "Life's too short to wait for the hook"
These days, Wolff tries to enjoy every second of his life. His amazing new band recently finished a new album, co-produced by Neale Eckstein at Fox Run Studios. It was mixed by Ben Wisch (Marc Cohn, Jonatha Brooke) and mastered by Emily Lazar (David Bowie, Natalie Merchant). This submission cd contains 3 rough tracks from the disc. The new album, to be released later this year, features many friends like Mike Levine, Rachael Davis, Bob Malone, and Chris Tarrow to name a few.
All in all, the future is looking very bright for Russell Wolff. He has bounced back from the brink of death and walked away stronger. He shocked his family and the rest of the world who knows him by returning to college this year for a degree at Harvard. He is one of the most dynamic and captivating performers out there. Exciting times lie ahead for this young man on his second life. We look forward to sharing them with you.
