This independent label has already released two conscious reggae singles with artists Norris Man (Blessed Are Those) and Diane Adams (Come to Me), and is now venturing into its first project for 2002, the exclusive dancehall & ragga soca compilation "Round One."
Musically, the Caribbean has been shrinking. With "Round One: Bashi Gyal vs Kick Back" JaQuzzi Records has virtually-and virtuously-ended the process, building beats that leap from Trinidad to Jamaica in one click of the metronome. The tracks on this compilation swell with a seamless fusion of hard dancehall and sensuous ragga soca riddims. Better, yet, twice featuring the sultry voice of Toni Braxton sound-alike, Flame, "Round One" is certain to knockout North American R&B fans too.
