Bio / Background
Rosemary has been writing and playing music since the age of 13. Having grown up in Nashville, TN, she has had the fortune of playing out in local clubs and venues for almost 10 years. She has toured nationally, and been involved in many other musical projects such as: Andy Bodean and the Bottom Boys, Communist, Tim Chad and Sherry (off-shoot of the Silver Jews), Flyaway Minion, and e-banditos, to name a few. Many of these musical projects can be found and downloaded through Black Label Empire's website (www.blacklabelempire.com).
Rosemary partnered up with master engineer Patrick Himes (who has numerous accolades to his name, including asst. engineer of Ryan Adam's smash-hit "Heartbreaker") back in 2003. They began working on numerous singles and other projects, all the while, amassing a huge indie-net following. The two continue to record together at every possible opportunity. BLE anticipates a full-length record from Rosemary in late 2006.
↓ more ↓The album will reportedly be released on both vinyl and CD format. At the moment, BLE has two singles and one short EP available for purchase respectively titled "The Floater," "Cha-Cha in Your Ear," and "the Fabulous Life Of..."
Rosemary and Patrick tackle everything together on the recordings they produce. Generally speaking, Rosemary writes all lyrics and music, initially. Patrick then comes behind her and "cleans up [her] mess," as Rosemary puts it. For the most part, all parts are played by both Rosemary and Patrick, with occasional guest appearances. The two do everything, including writing, recording, producing, engineering, and mastering. Needless to say, they are both 110% dedicated to seeing their project(s) through to a perfect finish.
Rosemary was recently accepted into the internationally acclaimed SAE Institute, founded by Tom Misner, in May of 2006. This new venture will undoubtedly only enhance her creative abilities as an artist, producer, and engineer. In May of 2006, Rosemary released a video for the song "Altazar," which can be viewed in the videos section of myspace.com. In Septermbeer of 2006, she was asked to be included in a documentary entitled "the dialogue project." Her track "Heavy Hand" is featured on the documentary.
