"Moody heartfelt instrumentals with a touch of southern swamp rock"
Bio / Background
Featured on the Public Radio International program Echoes playlist and recently selected to provide several songs for the PBS television program and online site Roadtrip Nation, Ronnda Cadle began playing guitar in her hometown of Baltimore in 1985. She moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1992 and formed her first acoustic duo with friend and singer Jennifer Feldon. Her next project was with Betsy Brushart before Betsy moved on to Nashville. Ronnda headed to Atlanta to continue her musical endeavors and co-founded a six-piece folk rock band called Fat Chance. They performed at venues throughout the Southeast, recording their first CD with two-time Grammy Award winning producer Don McCollister (Indigo Girls, Sister Hazel, Shawn Mullins, Third Day).
When Fat Chance disbanded in 2002, Ronnda joined 2003 American Music Award winner "Best Unsigned Artist", Moe Loughran, as her guitarist. Together they toured London and performed at many well-known venues within the United States.
↓ more ↓In 2006, Ronnda embarked upon a new vision when she released her first solo instrumental collection called "The River Runs", again working with producer Don McCollister. In Ronnda’s words, "I choose to work with Don because I feel he is the only one who can capture the emotion of an acoustic piece. He brings the listener to a deep understanding of what I am saying through my music."
Ronnda recently went back into the studio with McCollister - this time with a trio of supporting musicians collectively known as “The String Poets”. This group consists of Carol Statella on viola, Sherry Iles on bass guitar and Jordan Marshall on percussion. The CD entitled "After" will be the first to demonstrate Ronnda’s folk-acoustic instrumental crossover as she incorporates a more orchestral sound into her compositions.
Ronnda credits her musical influences (including Nancy Wilson, Caroline Aiken and Emily Saliers) for shaping her as both a guitar player and as a person. "I wouldn't be the player I am today if it were not for these strong and amazing women. I hope to bring my own voice to the generations of women who follow."
“Ronnda is an amazing technician on the guitar. She coaxes a full-voiced sound out of the instrument and the result is a confident, clear tone. She’s a melodic, hooky writer. Her songs stay with me for days.”
~ Sue Ennis (co-writer with Ann and Nancy Wilson)
“the kind of music that makes want to sit back and close your eyes”
~ Sarah Bettens (lead singer K’s Choice)
