Bio / Background

Ronan Murray was born in Dublin in 1977, luckily enough into a family where music was and is as normal as breathing. As a kid he used to improvise on the piano and pick up tunes by ear from the radio or wherever else they could be heard. His dad gave him his earliest piano lessons and like him Ronan developed a passion for playing the organ which is still a big part of his life. Ronan is a well-known and accomplished organist and improviser. In his teens Ronan started playing with bands at school while wearing the classical music hat as church organist. Soon he was listening to all the classic songwriters and bands from the 60's and 70's. The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Traffic, Jimmy Webb, Burt Bacharach are just the tip of the iceberg in an ocean of influences.

Eventually Ronan started writing songs and went into a frenzy of activity doing just that. But as often happens, life had its own distractions and the songs took second place to Ronan's work as a jobbing piano player and organist.
