Bio / Background
Born to a singing Angel in Atlanta, Georgia, raised in Bowen Homes, a community in “The Dirty South” made even more famous by Comedian Bruce-Bruce (http://www.bruce-bruce.com/), and Outkast (http://www.outkast.com) in their video “Bombs over Baghdad”, Rod Kelley has triumphed and proven himself a force to be reckoned with in this music world.
Rod studied jazz performance at Georgia State University, and performed with both the Georgia State Jazz Band and the Clark College Jazz Orchestra. He received a degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
While Rod’s musician friends [including notable musicians William Green (http://www.musicmontaj.com/william_news.htm), Sonny Emory (http://www.sonnye.com/), and Sam Sims (http://www.samsims.com/] began touring with world famous artists, Rod’s musical horizon was expanded as he became a member of a twenty-three piece orchestra.
