Detroit metal high-energy in your face guitar and drums. A real kick in the nuts.
Bio / Background
Detroit's groove metal band Riot in Progress formed from a group of four individuals with one goal in mind: To create a sound like no other, yet still marketable.
Riot's second full length CD "Incoming from the Airwaves" will be released June 2004. In 1997 Riot in Progress released a full length self-titled CD Riot in Progress. 2001 they released a two-song limited edition EP. Riot in Progress strive for creative solid rhythm, strong bass & powerful guitar riffs. True-to-life lyrics belting out & electronic overtones complete this Detroit based groove metal band. Riot in Progress has been nominated six years consecutively for Outstanding Hard Rock /Metal Artist/Group for the Detroit Music Awards, 1999 thru 2004. In 2002 they were nominated for Outstanding Live Performance. In 2003 they were Award winners for Outstanding Live Performance.
Riot in Progress has performed over one hundred shows in Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

In April 2001, made a guest appearance in Troma Films "After April" featuring 9 songs. They were finalists in the 2001 Miller Genuine Draft's Blind Date contest, hosted by WRIF and Sebastian Bach formally of Skid Row. Riot in Progress also, performed in the 2002 Motor City Music Awards.
While staying focused, Riot in Progress has created a remarkable growing fan base that always has something to look forward to.
Question: Let's talk about their songs?
Stompt a song of redemption, about rising up against the odds and the odds just happen to be greater in a rusted out industrial town like Detroit for a band like this. This message is in their music from the beginning that has struck a nerve in so many.
Riot's material has to be taken in one swallow with this band because the themes riot use's continuing throughout their music. To break the songs down individually is to downplay the emotional impact of the material. They are so much more emotionally oriented than the other metal bands that I'm hearing. And it's just natural. I think anybody would be pissed off if they had to play in Detroit to survive. The have played engagements where fan reaction was so extreme and so violent that the performance had to be stopped And I think that any band with that kind of power is a band to be reckoned with.
Marrow Road
Marrow Road is a place on the deep east side of Detroit where for many, many years, be it folklore or fact, high school kids have gone to see strange lights, strange things, strange visitations, strange presences. I think the band relates so much to that because I really think the band writes and performs with the mentality of being outsiders themselves. I think that theme appeals to them a lot.
Lonely Addiction
It's about the frustration the band sees in friends and losing some of their friends down toad to drug addiction. Interestingly, this song has gotten the band some intensely personal letters from people who identify with, are living through, or have lived through the kind of loneliness and isolation.
