Bio / Background
Ringleader is a Washington D.C. area based modern rock band. Combining a sharp focus on songwriting and vocal melody with heavy guitars and synth textures, Ringleader released it's debut ep No Slide Guitar in the fall of 2004. Using the ep as a template, the band has been busy writing new songs, honing in on their sound, and performing live
Not afraid to borrow from one style or decade to another within the rock genre, Ringleader tries not only to embrace the past but also to sound like the present. The songs "Bonds", "South Dakota", and "Lovetrap" provide the basic, heavy but hook-filled modern pop sound while "Imaginary Best Friend" and "Sound Barrier" showcase a more quiet and introspective side.
Lena Esposito started playing live with Chris Brownelle in support of her 2002 self-titled solo cd produced by five time Grammy-nominated producer Bob Dawson at the acclaimed Bias recording studio.
↓ more ↓After playing numerous shows together over the next year, Lena and Chris decided to write and record full-on rock songs that became the basis for Ringleader. Chris previously played in the noted DC area band Smarbomb, recorded, and performed live shows from North Carolina to New York in the late-nineties.
Throughout the year, Ringleader will continue writing as well as recording and playing live it's growing backlog of material.
