Guitar rock with a classic sound, energenic tunes with a wide range of 70's influences..fun listening
Bio / Background
Rick Jennings has a long history of playing music in Central and Coastal Maine...and continues to frequent Boothbay Harbor, Brunswick, Lewiston, Georgetown, Kennebunk...etc..with years of playing the classics, primarily 70's rock, blues and country rock.
These original songs carry years of information and truth about life in general delivered with an interesting guitar playing approach.
So lay back, put on your headphones and enjoy the 11 new songs on "Ordinary Miracles".
Experience a wide range of material all from the heart.
The album is produced by Harry King, who also plays piano and organ on all the tracks..
On drums is long time associate Dale Boothby.. indeed a percussive genius
I'd like to add a recent email I recieved from a friend with a long musical background...
"Rick, you got me fired up for another close listen. I made references to other great bands and recordings as a means of pointing out great things in your songcrafting......and the nostalgia of it all.
↓ more ↓One prominent factor is the "genuine sound"......you don't get this very often from homegrown cds....but, you've got it here. Some of the songs on this cd may likely be
the best to have come out of Maine.
I focused on the guitar alot, and am really psyched that you stayed clean and didn't go with much overdrive or
distortion....what a nice change, compared to so many other guitarists out there! Your leads always have an element of excitement. And, your right hand picking technique and attack is what sets you above......great tone.
OK, like I said, I had fun seeing your influences in your music on this project, so, I'd like to mention a few to see if I'm on track. Here goes:
Private Matter: Dire Straits.....definitely....like off making movies.
Very refreshing.....nobody can do this like you. The key change at the end
is great.....it's what makes great songs even better.....and, doing it at the end is unique.
Love is the Answer: Great wah effect......this one reminds me of something Bob Weir would write.
Roll Baby Roll: The Outlaws. Great R-guitar, but awesome
L-guitar.........love the ending.
207 Blues: Can't go wrong with this one....great solo.
Lonesome Cowboy: Marshall Tucker style......good Allmans type solo.
Times are Changin: Like a newer tribute to Dylan. Love this guitar riff. What got me here is the chord progression on the chorus....unique, and adds
alot to the song. About time we heard an organ solo....something you
don't get much of nowadays. Good vocals.
I enjoy livin: The chord solo on the 2nd part of the guit solo is really great....another unique thing that sets you apart. And, the total change over in riff/tempo adds flavor.
So easy: This may be one of the best blues songs to come out of this state. Nice line - "give back guarantee"
Off the table: My favorite on the disc...great funk riff. Like something off my Rhino "History of funk" collection.
Take a stance: Sounds great, like off Terrapin station or Wake of the flood. Nice touch with back ground vocals.
Aint no crime: Like an outlaws tune...with great clean guitar playing....This one is genuine, with great lyrics.
This project fits in well with the new Dead inspired jam scene of Moe,
Widespread Panic, etc....Just in time!
A fine job..
