Bio / Background
Rural Free Delivery
Rural Free Delivery is a roots-based band with a soulful blend of influences, including funk, jazz, blues, bluegrass, fusion, Latin, and rock. The two founders of the band, Jeremy Beck (keyboardist and lead singer) and Craig Graham (guitarist) met while teaching at the American Institute of Guitar in New York City at the end of 2002. They collaborated on many different projects before deciding to form Rural Free Delivery in order to combine their interests of inventive styles with the music they both love, rock-n-roll. Jeremy, a North Alabama native, began studying classical piano at an early age, at the same time learning the fundamentals of bluegrass and gospel music. During his studies in jazz, composition, and arranging at Troy State University, he was introduced to the Hammond B3 organ, and has been hooked ever since. Craig Graham, spending his youth in the mountains of Pennsylvania, began playing guitar at age 10.
↓ more ↓Being exposed to music such as bluegrass, classic rock, jazz, and soul, he continued his education at the Berklee School of Music and performed extensively across Europe and Hawaii. Kyle Esposito was the most likely bassist for this band because of his thematic, groove approach to improvisation and is also known to blend the more sophisticated harmony of Jazz with an advanced rhythmic concept. Craig and Kyle met at Berklee in 1986 and have been playing together across the country ever since. Patrick Carmichael (drummer) was the perfect addition to the trio due to his inclination to "lay down a nice, fat, funky groove". His education at North Texas State University and his playing experience during the past twenty plus years has spanned many musical styles and has allowed for wide-ranging influences.
The diverse background of the players draws together the verve to form a never-ending pulse of energy. This assortment of musical flavor lends itself to some "good ol' rock-n-roll."
