Bio / Background
"The first thing you notice when you hear a Red River song is that it doesn’t sound fake or prefabricated. These two singer/songwriters have poured their hearts into every one of their songs." – Valerie Wynn, Entertainment Reporter, Tabor Times
A husband and wife duo, Red River mixes traditional country with a bit of roots music, and throws in a healthy dose of alternative influences to create a sound that is truly original.
Red River's songs are all original. They draw from their disparate life experiences to create very personal, yet universal emotions.
Shelly Anderson grew up on a farm in western Minnesota. Her songs evoke the warm memories of growing up in the country. She also relies heavily on her early influences in music, especially those she learned at her dad's knee. She plays acoustic guitar on the band’s recordings, and once in awhile throws in a bit of accordion.

Growing up in northeast Minneapolis, David Anderson incorporates very different types of experiences into his songs. He uses his memories of the Mississippi river, the railroad, and other indelible experiences to create mystical and ethereal songs and recordings.
David works the magic at the controls. He produces and arranges the songs, while playing nearly every instrument on the band’s recordings. He is a powerful singer and songwriter in his own right, having written hundreds of songs over the course of his career.
Somehow, these two different, yet very similar people found each other. Red River is what happens when all the pieces fit.
"Sparrow" is great! In my opinion, you guys have the sound that epitomizes the singer/songwriter movement." ~ George Fair, President, Classic Heartland Radio
"I got chills listening to Disquiet Dream ...mysterious, evocative, and more western than country." - Mark Lee Fletcher, artist/songwriter
"Your music is wonderful" - national recording artist Paulette Carlson
