Part art, part alchemy, the group's experimental songwriting style is both angular and eerie, accented by freeform space rock improvisations, intricate acoustics, dark atmospherics and chunky riffs.

Some reviews:
Philadelphia City Paper
July 2004
In the Nu-progressive rock underground, few bands are as respected and feared as Philadelphia's The Red Masque. Without irony or kitsch, the whirlwind that is Masque - on the new Feathers for Flesh (Big Balloon) -- stalks the darkness of Hammer Horror ambience and cursedly complex musicianship (think Gong meets Bauhaus) with only feedbacking noise, sound-collage clustering and the howl of vocalist Lynnette Shelley to light its way.

Recently The Red Masque released their newest CD called Feathers For Flesh. We were in talks back in mid September 2001 to do an album with this great band but due to various issues it never quite happened. Well, they have finally issued what I think is their best album to date. Dark prog with a generous sprinkle of experimental psych and some seriously great female vocals by Lynnette. This is an album that will you play non stop for 2 weeks straight.
