Bio / Background
"If The Red Button had been around in the '60s when I was producing, I would have signed them to EMI." -- Norman "Hurricane" Smith, Beatles engineer (1962-1966) and record producer (Pink Floyd, Zombies) for EMI.
"This is the freshest new music currently in print. Their sound is totally retro, but not in a kitschy, or contemptible way. Like myself and many of you I’m sure that are totally enamored with the mid sixties jangling-harmonic pop sounds of swinging London and garage music of the Midwest our ship has come in. The best way I can describe this is for you to imagine if the Beatles and the Byrds had decided to record and album together in London around 1965."
-- VillageRecords.com
"Give this record a few listens and you'll have a damn hard time trying to get the songs out of your head! A perfect, 60s/jangle pop record."
--IndiePages.com
"This is going to be the summer soundtrack record for me I'm sure of it.

"I love the unabashed goodness of this little gem."
-- Heather Browne, FuelFriends.blogspot.com
"The Red Button’s She’s About To Cross My Mind is nothing short of a clinic in sheer pop velocity."
--Amplifier Magazine
"SHE’S ABOUT TO CROSS MY MIND, easily one of the best releases of this, and maybe any, year. There is not a loser track, not one wasted moment, on SHE’S ABOUT TO CROSS MY MIND. I don’t know what the work process was like for Swirsky and Ruekberg, but their compositions sound as beautiful and seamless as if written by twin sons of different mothers. Highly recommended."

"Pure pop pleasure that evokes sunshine and crisp flowers."
-- Reviewer Magazine
"Gorgeous, breezy melodies. Even more than a mere Beatle zone, Red Button are in Wes Anderson land. You know, the director of "Rushmore" and "The Royal Tennenbaums?" He always picks these Chad and Jeremy/Kinks/Nico gems for his soundtracks. Heck, next time he could make it easy and just use 'She's About to Cross my Mind.'
--Kief's Downtown Music
"The pop record all the indie-popsters have been afraid to make for the last decade.... Instead of the haze of fuzzy logic and hipster cred, The Red Button write refreshingly direct, buoyant odes to loves lost and found without a hint of irony...They’ve earned their “Beatle-esque” sobriquet without reservation...The most immediate, arresting hooks of any record that will come out in 2007 give the Red Button a leg up on all contenders to the power pop throne... I didn’t think they made records like this anymore.
Trip McClatchy, Teen Kicks
"If there is a front runner or the best of 2007, this is it. Well produced, written, and performed, The Red Button is gonna be stuck on your MP3 player for quite some time. Get it!"
--Jay Anderson, Popbang.com
"Sway-along-and-smile pop music the way that God and Paul McCartney must have intended."
-- John Borack, Goldmine Magazine
"From beginning to end, She's About To Cross My Mind is a whirlwind of a love letter, reminding us of a time when a love song could be a melodic declaration and less of a preposterous distraction. It definitely has a place among the soundtrack of our lives here and now.
--Evolution of Media (EOM)
"She's About to Cross My Mind" is the new soundtrack to the old Swinging London! -KoolKatMusik.com
"Swirsky and Ruekberg can now wear their rightful crown as the Holsapple/Stamey of The New Millennium".
--David Bash, Founder, International Pop Overthrow Music Festival
"She's About to Cross My Mind" has all the hallmarks of a timeless pop masterpiece: consistently infectious songs wrapped up in air tight harmonies and jangly early Beatles power pop guitars."
--Exclusive Magazine
"Totally unique songs with a respectful bow of honor to the past, this album is extremely pleasant to listen to and these tuneful fellows will surely be providing mood music for many a happy make-out session for years to come."
--Silverfish Magazine
"The Red Button Pushes All My Buttons!"
--Robert Schwartzman, Rooney
""She's About To Cross My Mind" by The Red Button is going to settle as one of the classic power pop releases of not only this year, but will hold up for many, many years to come."

"Track after track of original, well-crafted, catchy 60's-styled pop that will have you humming along at first listen. A joy to listen to...Not many artists can pull this off and do it so well."

The Red Button is made up of Los Angeles-based singer-songwriters Seth Swirsky and Mike Ruekberg.
Swirsky's music credentials are impressive: He's written hit songs for dozens of artists, ranging from Rufus Wainwright ("Instant Pleasure") to Al Green to Tina Turner, Taylor Dayne among many others. (He's also written three bestselling books about baseball!)
Ruekberg's indie credentials are rock solid: He spent the '90s as writer and singer for Minneapolis-based pop-rockers Rex Daisy, who recorded a CD for Geffen Records with producer Paul Fox. He also wrote the soundtrack for the indie cult film classic "Dummy", which starred Adrien Brody.
The two met in 2005, when Seth was recording his first solo album, "Instant Pleasure" (which went on to win Best Pop Album at the 2005 Los Angeles Music Awards). The two hit it off immediately, both f them admiring eachother's songs.
So, they got together and started writing and recording songs. They found that Swirsky's tuneful optimism balanced nicely with Ruekberg's pessimistic but passionate style. "She’s About to Cross My Mind" is the result of those sessions.

Combining Rubber Soul-era Beatles and the Beau Brummels with a distinct 60's-era voice, this is one of those albums that I eagerly tell EVERYONE about. They get what Pop should be--great melodies, jangly guitars, with a nice mixture of slow- and fast-tempo beats. Standout tracks are 'Cruel Girl' and 'Ooh Girl.' Surprisingly, this retro sound is refreshing because nobody focuses on pure pop craft. It clocks in at only 35 or so minutes--so worth the time!
