Todaysterday by Robbie and the Robots is a fun album that artfully combines the emotions felt during a wonton night of drunken excess with those felt the next morning, head in hands, mumbling, "I can't believe I did that".
Their most glowing praise to date was to be voted 2004's number one "alternative band" and number five "best party band" in Austin in The Edge Magazine.
The songs of Robbie and the Robots represent the cathartic release of lead singer Robbie Doyen. The obvious humor found in his choruses and catch phrases such as, "I don't smoke crack on the day of the Lord," "She's not very strong, but her mouth is a muscle," and "Everything is going great so clap your hands and masturbate," belie an underlying sadness that adds a depth of ironicism to the mood of the music.
Todaysterday provides a fun time that revels in debauchery while simultaneously challenging it.
