Randy's music is a combination of Alternative,Americana,Rock sounds messed with inner city urban beats and powerful, soulful vocal melodies. Dealing with issues of the human condition while waiving the proverbial finger in the face of our system.

Randy Gibson from Long Beach, CA has been taking his lumps for a long time. To make your mark in this industry, you have to pay your dues, sometimes longer than you'd like to. But if you keep knocking at the door long enough, one day, you will break through. Knocking landed Randy on the door of famed producer, writer, and musician Ronnie King. What you hear in Unhinged is the culmination of their minds working together to attain some great musical moments.
Track one starts out with a southwestern, Neil Young type shootout song. It is powerful. The tune is simple, but builds layers as it goes. The effect on the vocal masks most of what he is saying, but given the suspense and mystery within the music of the song, it only adds to it. I don't mind at all.

Track two drops a drum loop on us followed by acoustic guitars, a Counting Crows-esque hurdy gurdy part, and then the real drums kick in. Randy's vocals are right on. They remind me a bit of Bare Naked Ladies. He's a high tenor, with a distinctive timbre. His melodies soar high above the sonic landscape below him. The additional instrumentation compliments the rest of the tune nicely.
Track four is a beautiful piano ballad. It flows along nicely until halfway through, when the drums break into a marching cadence. What a perfect breakdown to break up the flow of the song. The melodies are smooth and calm. They echo the sentiment of the piano part.
Each song on this EP is distinctively different. I was enjoying every song, while looking forward to what the next track was going to bring me. The full arrangements and contemplative songwriting that take place over the course of this album are enough to convince me that although they are merely four songs, they are four enjoyable songs. I highly recommend that you check Randy Gibson out before you make him come knocking for you.
