Bio / Background
R.A.C.E.
R.A.C.E. exists for the sole purpose of bringing intelligent solutions to life's traps and pitfalls through music.
Comprised of New York natives F THE ELEMENTAL and The King Tsulah, they move ahead with innovative music and thought provoking lyrics to convey their emotions to the audience. Most importantly they are a self-contained unit. All production is done by the group on their own recording equipment.
Since hip/hop has many musical influences R.A.C.E. incorporates a blend of musical genres to move the crowd, such as jazz, rock, classical, ethnic, house, dance, gospel and so on. Although sampling is prevalent in hip/hop R.A.C.E. prefers to use their own original music. There are no samples to clear.
With various aspects and musical talents R.A.C.E. has what the hip/hop audience needs. F THE ELEMENTAL plays the bass and keyboards while King Tsulah can play various ethnic instruments.
↓ more ↓Equipped with lyrical skills and hot beats, they are not afraid to say what needs to be said. R.A.C.E. is in a league of it's own due to the diverse and extensive research in the hip/hop culture. The message behind the music aims to help those in the urban communities and beyond in the mental and physical respect.
R.A.C.E. believes that their music can bring about positive change in the negative attitudes and lifestyles brought on by hip/hop within the last 20 years. They are drug and alcohol free and do not advocate self-destructive behavior in their music. They fully understand the importance of being a role model although it is not often accepted. If the young listeners who are influenced by this music are not considered, then musicians are no better than drug dealers selling poison to children.
R.A.C.E.'s lyrics derive from personal experience and some of the frustrations that many people face today, but they also attempt to supply solutions rather than simply complaining about the problems. Musical influences include Rakim, Brand Nubians, Parish, Public Enemy, Nonchalant, The Roots, Killah Priest, The Gza, The Rza, K R S One, Take Six, Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, The Crusaders among countless others. The group has much respect for artists who create what they call "mental music". Music that embarks the listeners on a mental and emotional journey.
The group intends to continue building and expressing themselves through music. Future creative projects include movies, film, video games and production for other artists. Their determination to make a profound impact on hip/hop and continue the struggle is astounding. In an industry crowded with the same old music and mentality R.A.C.E. is a breath of fresh air. Brace yourself!!!
