quietly dangerous.. hypnotic, comlex, and alluring. A 25-year-old cross between Leonard Cohen and Joan of Arc.
Bio / Background
Rose, a Chicago native currently residing in Santa Barbara CA, has been described as a "cross between Leonard Cohen and Joan of Arc," and justifiably so.
Many of her songs have a dark, brooding nature to them - with rich, in-depth lyrics.
Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls attests, "No one can touch her.. Rose exists on a level all her own.. botanical love songs, dark histories.. as holy as a mystic, as profane as your perverted fantasies."
Rose Polenzani is coming onto the scene in full-force.
Dragersville is her 1998 debut CD, and it came the same year as her performances at Lilith Fair in Chicago, Newport Folk Festival, and opening dates for artists such as the Indigo Girls, Vic Chestnutt, and Joan Baez.
In August of 1998 Rose independently released her debut album, Dragersville, a self-produced collection of eleven original songs.
↓ more ↓Since its release, she has been touring almost incessantly, making a stop at the ASCAP Showcase during this year's Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah and Chicago's Lilith Fair.
The Illinois Entertainer called 1999 "the year of this woman" in a recent article about her, and with her second album's recent, release on Atlanta's Daemon Records, it very well might be.
