In the ever-changing world of corporate sponsored music events and pre-fabricated pop stars singing clever songs penned by highly paid songwriters, churned out through a scientifically planned money machine, then shoved down listeners throats so that the powers that be can have their way with you. Point 1 frees the listener from these everyday musical realities through thought provoking lyrics meant to inspire rather than oppress personal thought and opinion.
Through Point 1's experience playing live in the underground music circuit; the band generates a definitive sound, stage show, and overall purpose to creating and writing music. Their music gives listeners a brutal look into life's degradations, stresses, and strains of everyday living, ultimately helping the listener find a spiritual truth and escape the darkness this world offers.
↓ more ↓In the summer of 2002, Point 1 released their first album 'Stress Related Injuries'. The album, Co-produced and Engineered by Scott Olsen (Alice In Chains, Deftones) is available on their own record label, 'Groove King Records'. After the initial release, Point 1 embarked on a series of live shows over several months to promote 'Stress Related Injuries'. From the success of these shows and 1500 CDs sold, Point 1 has gathered a following of die-hard fans and an invariable crowd whenever the band plays live.
Point 1's incomparable style and sound separates them from all upcoming and current rock acts, making it difficult to place their music in any particular genre. 'Stress Related Injuries' takes the listener on a journey tapping into individual emotions and provoking the senses. From the opening sounds to the closing segment, it is clear that the listener has experienced something unique. During the heavy drum and bass presence on 'Chemical Religion' to the conflict-ridden lyrics of 'Crucify The Embryo' the album takes the masses of today in a different direction than they are accustomed.
Point 1 is all about the music and the depth of the message it brings to their fans. In the words of vocalist Len Hotrum, "If the listener is moved and intrigued to ask themselves questions about faith, hope and the desire to seek things in life other than what our materialistic society says you should be striving for, then our music has done its work." After all, hope, is "the only thing people haven't figured out how to kill yet..."
