Country-Rock-Pop-Punk for the uninhibited listener
Bio / Background
Why name a band Pickle? Is it meant to be silly or obscene or literal? The guys in Pickle will all say: Yes. From phallic to intoxicated, the wide range of ways to interpret the name Pickle is reflective of the music itself. Fun, dirty, quirky, catchy Rock that curves into a variety of styles and genres. It's Country-Rock-Punk-Pop for the uninhibited listener.
In March of 2005 their first full- length album "This Good Life" dropped. Their fledgling EP "Yummy" was gloriously recorded with 2 days in the studio, one month after the band's inception. This time around, Pickle took their time and produced a high quality first album with "This Good Life".
The story behind the album:
After 2 years of steady gigging and developing as a band Pickle knew they had to get into a good studio and record a full length album. For this they turned to long time veteran of the DFW recording scene Eric Delegard of Reel Time Audio in Denton, TX.
↓ more ↓After a few sessions at Reel Time, they won a very unique opportunity at the North Texas New Music Festival's Battle of the Bands. After 3 months of preliminary battles, semi-final battles and the battle finals, Pickle was awarded a whopping $10,000 prize which included enough recording time to finish the production of their CD with Kent Stump at Crystal Clear Studios in Dallas, TX. When mixing was completed, the CD was put into the hands of well-known sound guru of the Curtain Club James McWilliams for mastering. "This Good Life" is the first true representation of the band Pickle.
Songs on the album were written by Craig Marshall, BMI. His lyric style builds images and tells stories, then wraps them in a song. Bassist, Sean McWilliams and Drummer, Chris Plunk bring these images bounding to life with pulsing beat and tone. Guitarist, Jeffrey Gruber adds touches of color with his tasty use of the electric guitar. "This Good Life" truly captures the energy of Pickle's live show.
Pickle has been gigging and building an audience in DFW since 2002. They have played the Curtain Club, Trees, Club Clearview, Club Dada, Andy's, the Aardvark, and many others. Pickle appeared at the Richardson Wildflower festival, Mills Music Fest at the University of North Texas in Denton, Spring Fling at Austin College in Sherman, TX. They have been featured on WCNI-90.9, KKOM - Texas A&M Commerce, Songplanet.com and Live 365 Internet Radio, and more.
This Good Life features Craig Marshall, Sean McWilliams, and Chris Plunk of Pickle and guest guitarist Jeffrey Gruber. Pickle is represented by local label Special Session Recordings and BMI.
