Bio / Background
I don't even know where to begin in the review of this CD. I'm totally blown away by the eclectic combination of sounds on this very earthy, natural sounding release.
Peter Whitehead is the sole musician on the album, layering sounds from many unusual, or homemade instruments to create a sound that defies definition. This mix of textures often give the songs an interesting feel similar to Peter Gabriel's album Passion (The soundtrack to "The Last Temptation of Christ").
Along the same vein, but quite different in many respects, Three Bags Full also has a combination of ethnic influences that hint towards the cultural music of India, the southern Mediterranean area, and even the orient. Songs vary greatly in tempo and mood across the span of the CD; sometimes slow and melodic, other times frenzied and insane. Also, I must draw particular attention to Peter's great rhythm.
His skills as a percussionist are, in a word, fantastic.
