Excellent indie Canadian power pop compareable to artists such as late 70`s/early 80`s Elvis Costello, Sloan playing with Chicago(lots of horns in here), The Oohs, some "Pinkerton"-era Weezer and OK GO.
Bio / Background
“Better Days” is the new CD from Winnipeg-based indie-rock act The Perms. Released on November 2005, the 11-track recording contains a mix of high-energy rock anthems and melodic power pop gems.
“It’s solid pop and extremely infectious from the hard-driving back-beat of Bring You Down to the chunky Let’s Not Fight, or anywhere else the laser hits the disc.” (The Daily Press)
“Better Days is yet another brilliant offering from Winnipeg’s bursting pop-rock scene.” (Soulshine.com)
Produced by Lloyd Peterson (The Weakerthans, Greg McPherson) and Neil Cameron (The Watchmen, Christine Fellows), the final product is what Cameron calls a blend of “modern rock and a taste of Motown groove.”
“Their songs are loaded with hooks and powerful arrangements.”
The group writes about real life experiences that are both serious and more light-hearted. Most of the album was road tested in bars from Montreal to Victoria before being recorded.

The band’s sophomore album Clark Drive was an instant hit with college radio. The disc’s opening track “Song For D” received extensive airplay in the UK and was a local favorite in Manchester.
The Perms debut album Tight Perm was paid for from money bassist Shane Smith received from breaking his leg in a freak accident at his high school. The album’s first single “Love at First Sight” became the band’s first video and propelled the band from their basement to clubs and festivals across Canada.
