influenced by Sting, Paul Simon, Steely Dan, James Taylor, Lyle Lovett, Elvis Costello, Suzanne Vega, Pat Metheny. A little different. Unique lyrics. Some unobvious chords changes. Contemporary singer-songwriter with a touch of jazz.
Bio / Background
"Mellow-but-active guitar playing and just a hint of blues thrown in for good measure. The guitar work is never lazy, and when the single-string solos come in, you hardly notice they weren't there before. Tension and Release is a fluid, well-recorded disc... Artists like DeStefano tend to either sound completely derivative, or in this case, they sound like ... themselves. That's a feat in itself; there are an awful lot of Dave Matthews disciples these days. Much to his credit, DeStefano doesn't sound like he's imitating anyone." - Indie-Music.com
"This is an album full of acoustic songs that are gentle and jazz-influenced. There's a good deal of slow and tasteful guitar, and a number of well-written songs. - Good Times Magazine, Long Island, Nov '04
"jazz-inspired" - LeftOffTheDial.com
"acoustic guitar-based songs... smooth, jazz guitar format" - SplendidEzine.com
This is the second recording from Philip DeStefano.
↓ more ↓His first recording was as one half of the duo "DeStefano & McLeod" and was titled 'Coloring the Sky' - it contained four very eclectic instrumental tracks and four vocal tunes. You'll find it on CDBABY if you search for my last name.
