Bio / Background
In medical terminology, "patient zero" is a term that is given to the first person that contracts a disease or is the first to undergo a new treatment. patientZero feels they are the first to introduce their unique style of music and hopes to spread it like an epidemic. In the spring of 2003, patientZero introduced their original musical style to the Cincinnati area music scene and abroad. pZ takes an alternative/rock/indie approach with their music in the spirit of Radiohead, Incubus, Faith No More, or Yes, but with a more melodic, "jam band" edge that is all their own.
patientZero was born in 2002 when guitarist/vocalist Chris Sarvak met up with keyboardist Joe Hollon and reunited with bassist Jay Ehrnschwender in college. Jay and Chris have a more extensive past playing in a previous band together. Cesar Vanegas is the newest addition to the band, adding a new percussive dimension that makes patientZero's voice even more distinct.
↓ more ↓This veteran percussionist has played with such artists as Paul Reed Smith, Nils Lofgren, Tom Princinpato, and Tommy Lepson.
Hitting the ground running in 2003, patientZero has been active in the Cincinnati scene and abroad. Their festival activity has included the M.E.A.N.Y guitar festival in New York city, the Rock and Ride Music Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, the Midwest Music Summit in Indianapolis, and Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati. The band has also been featured on the UPN television network. patientZero's local stature ranges from playing Music Hall for the Cincinnati symphony, appearing on the local T.V. band showcase City Nights, playing large festivals and benefit shows, and regularly pleasing the crowds at Cincinnati area venues. pZ has also been played on 233 college radio stations in support of their first EP with TinderboX music promotion. They had favorable results in many areas of the country, such as New York, North Carolina, Boston, and Denver. In 2004 the band was honored and recognized for their first EP sampler "...free of any mindset", nominated for Best New Artist in Cincinnati by Citybeat Magazine (http://www.citybeat.com/2004-09-22/music.shtml). With the coming of their first full length cd, "Seemingly So" in August of 2005, and the promotion/management/publicity team of Crash Avenue and TinderboX music, the future is diagnosed to be widely infected with patientZero, with no cure in sight.
